Pool of the Winds, WA

As we closed out the first month of 2018, I went out once again into the Columbia River Gorge to hike Hamilton Mountain in Washington. We arrived to fairly warm weather for winter and proceeded up the trail. The hike ascended, and we soon found ourselves amidst a fog that shrouded the mountain, something that I was completely in love with.

My brother and I traversed the mud to a lower vantage point to capture Hardy Falls, a stunning 90-foot waterfall. Just further up the trail we finally cape upon Rodney Falls, another thunderous waterfall that comes crashing down mere feet away from the bridge traversing the river below. We didn't hike much further because of the mud, so we spent our time looking and capturing the spectacular sight of the falls. We wrapped up our visit by heading up to a vantage point higher up the falls where the water rushed over the end of the trail on its way cascading down the cliff face. The chilly spray and thunderous roar of the water was incredible!

Looking forward to visit this trail again sometime soon so that I can make it up all the way to the top for some incredible views of the Gorge, which from what I can tell, are gorgeous! But until next time...
